🌿 About Me
Hi! Kia Ora! Kamusta po kayo!
My name is Gill, and by the grace of God, I’m a home-based educator and registered primary teacher with over 10 years of experience with young children. I’ve been running JeMMa’s Homebased Childcare & Education since September 2
024, and I also work as an online tutor supporting children with diverse learning needs.
I truly love what I do. Watching children grow in confidence, curiosity, and skills is such a joy — whether it’s their first word, a new friendship, or mastering something they’ve been working hard on.
I’m also a mum, which has given me firsthand insight into how crucial it is for children to feel safe, loved, and supported. My faith is a big part of who I am, and I aim to demonstrate love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control every day, while always honouring the values of each family.
I believe every child is fearfully and wonderfully made by God, and that children learn best through play, relationships, and real-life experiences.
My programme is guided by the Te Whāriki Curriculum, supporting children’s wellbeing, belonging, communication, exploration, and contribution in a natural and meaningful way.
What I love focusing on includes:
🌟 Language development, early literacy and numeracy
🎨 Art, creativity, and imaginative play
🌱 Child-led and play-based learning
❤️
Building social and emotional skills
✊️
Building self-adaptive skills
🌍 Fun community outings and experiences
📖 Growing confidence and independence
When the weather allows, I enjoy taking the children out to places like the duck pond, library, playground, art gallery, and supermarket. These outings help children explore the world, learn practical life skills, and appreciate God’s beautiful creation.
🏡 Our Home Learning Environment
I offer a calm, small, and homely space that is spacious enough for children to explore and grow while feeling comfortable and secure.
I have:
🌿 A safe outdoor play area
🏖 A portable sandpit, along with space for simple gardening and nature play
🏠 Dress-ups and dramatic play resources
🧩 Puzzles, blocks, books, and learning toys
🎨 Art and craft areas for creativity
🎵 Musical instruments for exploring and making music together, including an 88-keys keyboard, small piano books, ukulele, guitar, kalimba, xylophone, tambourine, shakers, and more.
We love singing songs and dancing along to the music!
It’s a place where children can safely play, learn, laugh, and truly feel right at home.
💬 What Families Say
“We are so grateful for the way Teacher Gill has nurtured, guided, and cherished our son during his time in her care. He has grown not only in learning, but in confidence, joy, and kindness. Teacher Gill’s love and patience have been a true blessing to our family.”
— Mum of a 2-year-old Filipino boy
“From the very first start, I felt total peace knowing my daughter was in a loving, God-filled environment. Gill creates the most beautiful space for little ones – full of joy, music, cooking, art, play, and most importantly, the presence of God. Pauline thrived under her care- singing worship songs, doing hands-on activities, learning values, and just being surrounded by love and purpose everyday. It’s rare to find someone who pours so much heart into the children the way Gill does. If you’re a parent looking for a faith-filled, nurturing kindy for your little one, I highly recommend her. Thank you Gill. You are truly a blessing to our family!”
