Hi I’m Nilva. I have a BA in Education major in Portuguese and English.
I have many years of experience working in the ESOL sector, teaching children as well as adults. I also have experience working with children at Christian Camps and Sunday School. More recently I worked in a big Childcare Centre on the North Shore. I really did enjoy my time there but decided to leave and work from home instead, to be able to give more one-on-one attention to the children under my care as I believe every child is unique and has their own learning style and pace.
My house has a big back yard which will offer children a great space to have fun as well as appreciate the environment. I am all for messy play allowing the children to engage in sensory activities with raw materials like water, sand, chalk, play dough, slime. All of which stimulates their imagination and curiosity. I love being creative and coming up with new games, so time inside is just as fun as we do puzzles, dance, play music, draw, read.
We live close to Sherwood Reserve and Playground – a very nice place for the children to learn through play and exploration in nature. I also take the Children under my care to playgroups, Mainly Music, the library 🙂
