“Ko te ahurei o te tamaiti arahia o tatou mahi

Let the uniqueness of the child guide our work.”

Sat Shri Akal, Kia Ora, Hello

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to my home. I am Jagmeet, I am the proud mother of a 7 year old lovely, energetic and beautiful daughter Aishleen, and my 8 months old very active son Gurfateh, and we live in Te Puke (Kiwifruit Capital of the World), Western Bay of Plenty with my great and supportive husband, Hardeep. Outside work, I love reading and spending time with my family and friends. My family is nature loving so we go regularly to the local parks for a walk to feel the beauty of nature. Children also get opportunity to visit local Library on a regular basis where they are able to attend story sessions hosted by one of the Librarians.

I am passionate about working with children and I love to see them grow into respectable citizens.

I became a teacher because I had always seen my father making a difference in children’s lives through his commitment to education. I would say that teaching is in my blood as my father is a retired Lecturer in Commerce and my mother was also a teacher in Physical Education.

Previously, I had been a primary teacher for two and half years in India. I believe that early childhood is an important time for the holistic development of a child. I did Graduate Diploma in Teaching Early Childhood Education in 2013. I enjoy being a part of children’s beautiful world and watching them exploring and growing as competent, confident and life-long learners for last five years at Giggles.

I respect each child’s uniqueness and help them build strong relationships with other children and adults by providing a warm, loving and natural environment where they are able to play, explore and develop at their own pace. The reciprocal and responsive relationships contribute to developing children’s sense of security and competence (Ministry of Education, 2017).

Karen Salmansohn also says, ”Children who grow up feeling loved deeply become adults who are prewired to love deeply”.

I believe that building trusting relationships with children and their families is paramount in early childhood as this is the most critical time when children begin to develop their social, and emotional literacy. I strive to provide children and families a warm and welcoming environment where they know they have a place and teachers know them.

Pennie Brownlee says, “every child has three wishes: they wish to feel safe, they wish to feel loved, and they wish to be respected”. Keeping this in my mind I am always available to meet and respond to children’s needs either if they need a cuddle or just my presence which makes children feel safe, loved and respected.

I also believe that you as parents and whanau play an important role in supporting your children’s learning as you are their first teachers. You have a wealth of knowledge about your child from home and I value your participation, to develop children’s sense of belonging and well-being. We work collaboratively with the families, to support and nurture children’s growth and development to help them become a confident and capable learner.

Thank you for choosing myself to be a part of your extended family and giving me the opportunity to take part in the life of your children.

I look forward to working in partnership with you and your children to ensure a safe, fun and educational environment, which will give them the foundation to develop into successful children and young adults.
